Acting Chief Medical Director of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Lagos, Prof. Chris Bode, has asked the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) to embrace dialogue as panacea towards solving industrial action.
Bode made the appeal while reacting to the ongoing nationwide strike that has crippled healthcare services across government health institutions in the country.
He said that incessant strikes was not the best way to press home demands

People with the itchy skin condition eczema are more likely than others to have osteoporosis – which may be undiagnosed – and fractures, according to a new analysis.
Eczema, which is marked by red, swollen, itchy skin, can be caused by other diseases, irritants or allergies. It is usually treated with topical corticosteroids or oral antihistamines.

Chairman of Medical Health Workers Union of Nigeria in Zamfara, Sabo Tsafe, said they would join the strike by National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) if the latter’s requests were not met by government.
Tsafe issued the threat during interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Saturday.
The chairman said they would join the strike if the Federal Government failed to respond to the demand of their colleagues.

This new business concept was based on the recapitalization and re-accreditation of the company as a national HMO by the NHIS, which is the regulator.

An endocrinologist, Dr Aforke Isiavwe, Tuesday, urged operators of healthcare facilities to initiate, implement and strictly enforce standard safety measures to prevent resurgence of Ebola virus in the country.

TUBECULOSIS is a contagious infection that involves the lung. Tuberculosis is caused by the bacterium mycobacterium tuberculosis and it is spread through the air. Nearly 1.5 million people are killed globally by the infection every year and there are concerns some cases are becoming untreatable. These diseases-causing bacteria are discharged into the atmosphere in the form of minute droplets when patients infected with tuberculosis cough, speak or sneeze. These droplets have a tendency to evaporate quickly but the bacteria continue to be airborne for a very long time.
