The Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORCON) on Monday said only practicing environmental health provider should handle chemicals used for residential fumigation.
Mr Cyril Akinyele, the Public Relations Officer of the council, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Monday said the number of avoidable deaths from lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes climbed to 16 million in 2012 and urged governments to reverse the trend.
The UN health agency said in the latest available global data that the number had risen from 14.6 million people who died under the age of 70 from non-communicable diseases in the year 2000.

Mr Ebenezer Adeleye, the Programme Coordinator, Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria (SCFN), Idi-Araba, has called for intensive indigenous research into Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD) to mitigate the burden of the disease.
Adeleye, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos, said that Nigeria still carried the highest burden of the disease in the world.

The National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) said it has intensified surveillance across Nigeria to check the unwholesome activities of counterfeiters and importers of unregistered products.
Speaking at a news conference in Lagos on Monday, Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii said the agency’s increased surveillances have led to several interceptions and seizures of large containers and arrest of suspects involved in forgery of NAFDAC documents and the operation of  illegal production facilities.  

A consultant dermatologist, Dr. Olanrewaju Falodun, has said not all cases of hair loss were caused by some disease conditions.
Falodun, a consultant at the National Hospital, Abuja, who said this recently  in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, explained that that genetic and age considerations were causative factors.
He said both males and females could be susceptible to mild but normal reduction of hair in their 30s and 40s.

General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Mr. Adebola Shabi, has   said noise could be harmful if it exceeded specified national and state standards.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that noise could be an unwanted or unpleasant sounds or a sound that was valueless to others.
