2019: Igbo group condemns vote buying, wants Ngige back to senate

THE current grinding poverty across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria that has engendered many negative consequences including all manner of vices and social dislocation for the citizens should be a source of serious concern to all tiers of government and a wake-up call for all concerned. This is totally unacceptable and we demand that no stone should be left unturned in addressing its root causes with a view to achieving better living standard for the vast majority of the people.

IG to dismiss F-SARS men who check bank accounts, others

THE resurgence of mass killings of innocent  citizens including children and pregnant women in parts of the country including Rivers, Benue and Kaduna states by yet –to- be identified gunmen within 48 hours into the New Year is not only barbaric and condemnable but should be seen as a national threat that requires urgent solution. We demand an immediate end to such extra-judicial killings.

The Senate’s decision to thoroughly investigate the oil contracts award and lopsided appointments’ allegations leveled against the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Baru, by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, is a good step in the right direction.

THE secrecy surrounding the actual salaries and allowances of members of the National Assembly despite repeated inquiries from many quarters and resultant condemnations of parliament by some individuals and groups on the issue is unfortunate and unacceptable under an administration which creed is integrity, accountability, transparency and zero tolerance to corruption.

Nigeria @57: Not yet the promise land

AS Nigeria celebrates the 57th anniversary of her independence, no effort should be spared by the government and citizens in forging a new workable partnership that will address the myriads of socio-economic challenges facing the country including alleviating current hardship in the land, bribery and corruption, threats to nation’s continued unity by various groups that will usher in an era of peace, justice and prosperity for all.
