Bomb blast kills 10 in Bauchi

Ten people were killed yesterday in a bomb blast that rocked Azare town in Bauchi State. 56 others were injured according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Haruna Muhammed, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO for the State Police Command.
The Police in Bauchi had confirmed an explosion in Azare.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Lawal Shehu, who confirmed the blast on Sunday, said rescue operation was in progress._
Azare, which houses a Federal Government College, is coming under bombers attack for the second time in less than three weeks.
Meanwhile, youths of Azare have taken to the streets in wild protest against the general insecurity in the state and in their community, Azare.
The numerous bombing incidents in the community had slowly precipitated anger towards the security apparatus in the state over the lackadaisical attitude towards securing the community against the threats of Boko Haram.
One of the elders from the Azare community who spoke on condition of anonymity said that it was the repeated intervention of the elders in the community that had eased the eagerness of youths to take to the streets in wild protests – that has cooled the temperature of the community.
“But the bombing keep happening in our community and nobody seem to know what to do”, states the elderly man as he continued to add that up to six bombing incidents have been recorded since last year. He explained that with each incident, it took the intervention of the community youths to quell the incursion of the Boko Haram terrorists.
“The security guys only come to take the credit after the work is done”, he said.
Yesterday’s bombing attack appears to have broken the back of the camel as the youths have taken to the streets in large numbers and have set bonfires – and loud chats of anger and rage.
