The devilish activity of Boko Haram Terrorist and the breakaway group, the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in recent time is worrisome and required holistic and scientific solution by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

From December 2019 through January 2020, the Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province have carried out series of attacks both on civilians and military personnel that lead to garrulous murdered of several innocent Nigerians mostly Christians.

As Nigerians and the world still shocked by the event of 24 December, 2019 on Christmas Eve when the Boko Haram terrorist group killed 11 Christian’s captives in Borno State, North Eastern Nigeria and massacred of four abducted aid workers of the international Non- Governmental Organization (Action Against Hunger). Nigerians received the shock news  of the killing of Reverend Lawan Andimi, Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),  Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State who was beheaded in the afternoon  of Monday, 20 January 2020.

There is an indication as reported that negotiation was ongoing between the Boko Haram sect and third party negotiators on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria where the murderous terror group is demanding for a ransom of equivalent of N70 million for the release of the clergyman.

Although, the reasons for the change of mind of the Boko Haram sect that led to garrulous murdered of Rev. Lawan Andimi after the insurgent have agreed to set him free is unknown to anyone but because of the known lackadaisical attitude of people in government in Nigeria, who knows whether somewhere along the line of negotiation a mistake that could be prevented had been made which now aggravated the devil incarnate Boko Haram terrorists to annoyingly beheaded their captive.

If truly the government through the third party was negotiating with the Boko Haram, why was it that government waited until he was beheaded, why can’t the government acted on time to save the precious life of Rev.Andimi before he was killed?

All this shows that Nigerian security agents are ineffective and not well equipped to eliminate insurgency out of Nigeria. A situation whereby terrorist hideout can’t be found in order for the Nigeria Military to neutralise it is so bad.

Since the year 2002, when Boko Haram insurgency started in Maiduguri, Northeast Nigeria, for 18 years, the terrorist group has continuously terrorising, killing, murdering and massacring innocent Nigerians with no solution in sight to put an end to the barbaric act.

Nobody, not even the Muslims faithful either in Nigeria or anywhere in the world understand where the terrorist groups whether Boko Haram, Islamic State of West Africa Province or their likes received their evil doctrine of killing innocent people from.

It is ungodly for any sane person to kill fellow human being and mention the name of God before and after carrying out the barbaric act if the person is not devil incarnate or possessed.

The Monday, 20 December, 2020 garrulous murdered of a Christian clergy, Reverend Lawan Andimi by the Boko Haram terrorists has further exposed how ineffective the Nigerian security agency that is saddled with the responsibility of protecting the lives of every Nigerians be it Christians, Muslims and even traditional religion believers.

Notwithstanding the claims at different times by the security agent in Nigeria,  particularly the Nigerian Army that Boko Haram terrorists and other insurgency groups have been defeated, but repeatedly the groups and the splinter group, the Islamic State of West Africa Province keep on terrorising Nigeria.

While commenting on the latest act of terrorism by the notorious Boko Haram, the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar said: “This development sadden me. There’s a compelling need to recalibrate our security architecture “.

Chief Executive of Christians Solidarity Worldwide, Mervyn Thomas in his comment said: “The resurgence of both factions of Boko Haram is emblematic of the increasing insecurity in the country, and Nigerian civilians are at the receiving end. In view of the multiplicity of armed non-state actors currently operating in Nigeria, rising levels of insecurity throughout the country constitute a threat to sustainable investment and development “.

A statement from Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) says, “The Church views the unabated kidnappings, extortions and killings of Christians and innocent Nigerians as shameful to the government that each time boasts that it has conquered insurgency. It is reprehensible and saddening that each time the government comes out to claim the defeat of the insurgency, more killings of our people are committed. We are almost losing hope in government’s ability to protect Nigerians especially Christians who have become endangered species under its watch.”

Nigerian government should not wait until when the notorious Boko Haram terrorists, Islamic State of West Africa Province and others takes over Nigeria before proffer lasting solutions to the unending insurgency in the Northeast Nigeria.
