SELYA YARNAP, Bauchi

Catholic Bishop of Bauchi Diocese, Most Reverend Dr Hillary Nanman Dachelem, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to carry all Nigerians along during his second term in office to reciprocate the gesture done to him during the just concluded Presidential election.

Dachelem stated this in an interview with journalists in Bauchi, saying that “God has given us the President, we have to take him with gratitude to God. We should just cooperate with him and move on because he is not going to be there forever”.

The Bishop added, “On his part, inspite if his shortcomings too, God has brought him back .to probably correct some of the errors he might have made in his first tenure. He should thank God for his victory but he should not take it for granted”.

Speaking on the 2019 presidential and National Assembly election, he expressed gratitude to God for what he observed was the generally peaceful conduct of the.exercise.

As Nigerians file out to vote this Saturday in the Governorship and State assembly election, the Bishop advised politicians against engaging in the politics of do or die.He expressed concern on fears of impending violence across the country especially in Bauchi State.

“This politics of do-or- die will not help us. We know that there are two major contenders in the governorship race in the state but eventually Got will give us one. Let us be willing to be contented .And INEC that we believe is supposed to be the true referee should be honest and transparent and be careful in it’s conduct at this point”, the Catholic Bishop said.
