As part of government’s efforts to reduce lots of problems bedeviled land administration in Bauchi State, the state Director General, Geographic Information Service, BAGIES, Hon. Baba Abubakar Suleiman, said government has taken bold steps to reverse the trend of misconducts in land administration in the state.
Suleiman said this while interacting with stake holders in the administration of land which comprises land vendors and staff of the agency in Bauchi.
According to him, government has introduced new policies in lands administration in the state.He added, ” Governor Mohammed Abubakar has serious concern regarding misconduct within the land sector, ever since his intention is to make some reforms to make certain changes that will reverse the trend of misconduct in the administration of land in the state, because of this reason he approved review of all the processes starting from the application form, and another new policy that is just approve tag compensation draw back programme, all part of his effort to sustain development plan in the allocation of land and safeguard the trust of the Public”.
“The public lost confidence in the system because of fraudulent activities done between 1999 to date and the government is determine to reverse that trend and Alhamdulilahi today we have started to restore the confidence of the people which if succeeded it will reduce 80 per cent of many court cases on land in the state”
Suleiman said the agency will commence registration of land vendors, properties on first august 2018 as part of its intention help to restore sanity and bring confidence hope and transparency to the people acquiring land and building properties across the state.
“Under the new arrangement people will be asked to register their properties, and recertification of their certificates, even people with traditional customary tittles, even people with one room apartment we will give them the opportunity to register their portion and give them the certificate of occupancy”, he said.
The Director then solicited for the cooperation of the land vendors and all stake holders in order to succeed in this programme.
The land vendors who spoke at the interactive session thank the state government for their effort to sanitize the system and pledge to cooperate with the government to sanitize the system.
