Bauchi Governorship election declared inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) has declared the governorship election in Bauchi state inconclusive.
The Returning Officer, Professor Mohammed Kyari, of the Vice Chancellor of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola, who announced the result at the INEC headquarters in BauchI Monday morning, saying that the difference between the two top contenders, Governor Mohammed Abubakar (APC) and Senator Bala Mohammed (PDP) was not up to the number of registered voters in Tafawa Balewa LGA, which results had earlier been cancelled.

He disclosed that the PDP candidate polled 469, 512 votes against the incumbent Governor Abubakar who got 465, 453 votes, adding that the difference between the two is 4,059 votes.

According to him,in line with Section 23 part 6 of the electoral act I here by declare the election inconclusive.
‎The Returning Officer said even without the cancellation of Tafawa Balewa local government, the result is still inconclusive.
The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) had earlier turned down the election results for Tafawa Balewa LGA of Bauchi State on the ground that the collation officer, Anoseke Dominion, could not give a clear account of what transpired at LG collation centre.

Kyari said,”as far as I am concerned there is no result for Tafawa Balewa”.The Returning officer said a rerun election will be held in Tafawa Balewa local government within 21 days in line with Section 46 Act 53 of the electoral Act.
