Balotelli hits out at critics

Mario Balotelli has hit out again at the British press by accusing the media of fabricating stories about him.
The 24-year-old has faced heavy criticism for his performances for Liverpool this season, while his private life has also been scrutinised in newspapers since his return to England.
“I know that if people like or don’t like me, they will read what is written about me,” Balotelli told BeIN Sports.
“The press must sell newspapers and have to write funny or stupid stories. People don’t want to read: ‘Mario is at home with his daughter’. They want to read: ‘Mario broke his car’. So they lie and say stupid things because people read them.”
Balotelli has scored just two goals in 14 appearances for Liverpool since his £16 million arrival from AC Milan in the summer, but the Italy international believes support from fans will be key to his improvement.
“I know that score is very important for a striker. I remember when I was young, I played 20 minutes and I scored a goal. The fans loved me. Today I play, I don’t score, but fans still love me,” said the forward.
“It’s great from Liverpool fans. I really appreciate [their support]. When I go again to score, I think it will be 80 per cent because of them. Because they have always believed in me.”
