The former Vice president Atiku Abubakar has called on Nigerians to bring back the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, saying when PDP was in power , “ we never had it bad like as we have it today.”
Pointing out that the 16 years of the PDP in Nigeria brought great growth and development in Nigeria, Atiku said it was regretting that within three years in office, the APC government has reversed the entire development to hunger, disunity, insecurity, bad economy and religious intolerance .
The former vice president, who was in Abia State to request for the support of the party faithful in the party primary election for his presidential aspiration under PDP, said: “Today, Nigeria has been rated to be the poorest country on earth with more than 11 million youths out of jobs”
He said the insecurity in the country was as a result of unemployment, which made the youths to engage in anything, adding that insecurity is one the fundamental problems facing this country now and can be solved by restructuring and state police.
He commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his developmental strides and for the wonderful reception accorded to him.
In his response, Governor Ikpeazu, assured Atiku that Abia State party faithful would take good decision on who to vote for in the party primary election, saying it is a critical time in the country which calls for sober reflection “and this is the right time to make right decision .We must know where we coming from and where we are now.”
He said the major challenge of leadership of this country now was how to unite the country, adding that Abians are mindful of the pedigree of Atiku and his capacity, even as he thanked ex-Vice President and his high powerful delegations for visiting Abia State. In his speech, Hon. Izuchukwu Nwosu , who is the National Cordinator of Niger Delta core Supporters for Atiku ,2019, lauded the leadership qualities of Atiku, urging Nigerians to queue behind him.
