Antonio Conte named as LMA Manager of the Year after guiding Chelsea to title

Antonio Conte has been named as Barclays Premier League Manager of the Year by the League Managers Association (LMA) as well as LMA Manager of the Year after guiding Chelsea to the title in his first season in English football.

The former Juventus and Italy coach has been a revelation since arriving in the summer and saw his side win a record 30 domestic matches and end seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Since shifting to a 3-4-3 formation after a humbling 3-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal, Conte’s men put together a stunning run of form to lift the Premier League trophy, a season after finishing 10th in 2015/16.

Chelsea have acquired 43 more points than the 50 they managed last season, when Leicester won the title, and Conte has been rightly lavished with praise for their performances.

The Italian tactician will now hope to cap off the season in style by winning the FA Cup to deliver Chelsea the double.

Standing in his way is Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, with the Gunners keen to make up for the hurt of missing out on Champions League football next season.
