Aluko, Aneke on target

MIDWEEK games in Europe saw two Nigerian players on target for their respective sides with Omatsone Aluko rescuing Hull City from defeat while Chuks Aneke set the tone for Zulte Waregen victory.
Aluko, Super Eagles two goal hero against South Africa in the ill-fated 2-2 draw in the AFCON qualifiers brought Hull City level against Everton in the 59th minute to tie the game at 1-1 after Everton took a first half lead through Romelu Lukaku.
The 1-1draw means Hull City halts a losing streak of four in a row and moves them out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
For Omatsone Aluko the goal was his first in the league this season, but his second in all games after scoring in the Europa League qualifiers against AS Trencin.
In Belgium Anglo Nigerian Chuks Aneke set the tone for his side’s victory by scoring the first goal as his team Zulte Waregem beat Lierse 2-1 in a cup game.
The ex-Arsenal teenager was replaced four minutes before regulation time, in a game that stretched into extra time after both teams were tied at 1-1 after 90 minutes.
On the losing side was Nigerian World cup striker Uche Nwofor who came in for Wamberto in the 71st minute, but he couldn’t help his side from losing as he continues his search for a first goal in Belgium.
Meanwhile, in Turkey Macauley Chrisantus and John Utaka both drew blank for Sivasspor as they lost 2-1 at home to Gaziantepspor in a cup game.
Both started upfront but Chrisantus substituted in the 65th minute while Utaka lasted the entire duration of the game.
