Abandoned project in public schools to be completed soon - Maina

FAVOUR SHUAIB, Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is determined to complete all abandoned building projects in all public schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking during an inspection of some public schools in parts of the territory on Tuesday, the secretary of Education Secretariat, Senator Isa Maina noted that some of the building projects, which were initiated by the previous administrations, were abandoned because of the recession.

Maina stated that contractors, handling the projects would soon be mobilised to the affected schools to complete the jobs in good time. He explained that the visit was meant to assess the challenges facing public schools in the FCT, so that adequate arrangements could be made to address them, just as he identified poor lighting, uncompleted buildings, insufficient instructional materials, lack of desks and chairs, among others as some of the challenges facing the schools.

In his words “We have embarked on this visit to assess and identify challenges facing our public schools in the FCT, especially as the school resume. We have noted the challenges facing them, especially poor lighting, uncompleted buildings, lack of desks and chairs, among others. We would go back, and at the management level see how we could solve them.” he assured.
