Ondo election: Governor Akeredolu, APC lose in court

KAYODE AJIBOYE

Governor of Ondo State, Ogbeni Akeredolu has opined that the students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Akoko, in Ondo State, have not shown that they really need those modern facilities which they claim to be lacking on their campus.

This is even as the cute-bearded lawyer has insisted that the students would eventually return from their ongoing protest to still pay the N200,000 new tuition charge which, he reiterated is not an astronomical increase from the former fee which was less than N30,000 per session.

He stated this while chatting with the media on his visit to the Lagos State University in celebration of his younger brother’s 60th birthday cum delivery of LASU’s 67th professorial inaugural lecure.

Asked what informed the “astronomical increment in the school fee to be paid by students of AAUA, Ogbeni Akeredolu said ” there is nothing astronomical in the new fee when you consider the fact that Ondo State has three tertiary institutions and AAUA students were paying the least.

“It is not only unjustifiable but also grossly unfair to other students in the other institutions owned by the state.” You say they claim there are no facilities such internet, water and what have you; I believe they don’t need those facilities. If they (the students) need those things, they will be ready to pay” the governor snapped.
