Different communities in the 23 local government Council Areas of Sokoto state have been supplied with a total of 172 electricity transformers of various capacities at the cost of N623million.
Disclosing this Thursday while briefing Journalists, the state Commissioner for Rural Development, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu, said the measure was to enhance access to electricity power supply to remote locations in the locality.
According to him, the state government plans to install 100 more electric power transformers to complement existing ones before the end of 2017.
“The categories distributed include 500 kva, 300 kva and 200 kva. Some local government areas got five while others got three depending on request”, he explained.
The Commissioner further said his ministry was also liaising with the Federal Government to ensure more communities are connected to the national grid.
