409,893 IDPs to vote in camps in Borno -INEC REC

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Mohammed Magagaji Ibrahim, has said 409,893 Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs) would cast their votes in IDP camps in Borno in the  2019 general election to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission across  eight local government areas of the state.

The INEC commissioner who disclosed this at a NUJ Round table with stakeholders on 2019 General Elections, said:  “A total of 409.893.000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from eight different local government areas include Abadam, Mobbar, Kukawa,Guzamala, Ngala, Marte, Dikwa and  Kala-balge.

” We have identified eight different camps for 8 local governments councils, the People of Mobbar are going have their elections in Central Primary School, Damasak, Zannah Ajarri center, Ngaka, Internal school and Arabic Village, Ngala, Dikwa, central primary  school and Guzsmals in Bakassi camp and Monguno”,  Alhaji Ibrahim said.

He said:  “Other councils include Monguno, Bakasi camp and GSS Monguno, Kukawa MOGOLIS and Monguno, and  Mobbar, Central  School Mobbar, And Zanna Ajari Kala-Balge is yet to be decided ”

Alhaji Magaji said over 2.5 registered voters in Borno for 2019 general elections with 514. 000 new voters from 2017 to 2018 about 300,000 PVC yet tin be collected, stressing that 22.000 adhoc staff have been engaged for 2019 general elections.

Also speaking, the state Director National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Yahaya Imam said the agency has mobilized all its staff for voters education and violence-free elections.

“i am calling on electorates not sell thier votes, as the PVC is their only right that will equate them with everybody includes Mr  President who has only one votes,” he added

In his goodwill message, the state chairman IPAC, Alhaji  Muktat Abba said  they impressed with round table meeting and the level of preparedness of the INEC and assured that they will support the INEC to ensure free and violent-free elections.

Earlier, the state chairman of the NUJ said the stakeholders meeting was part of the NUJ contributions towards successful 2019 elections.
