Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has visited the victims of the Konduga suicide bomb blast, where he said government would pay all their medical bills.
Briefing the governor, the Director Rescue and Operations, Alhaji Usman Kachalla said 30 people were killed, while 38 injured were rushed to the State Specialist Hospital out of 17 were discharged, while three were referred to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
He said: “The incident occurred at about 9pm on Sunday. We tried to give immediate attention but we were prevented by the military until early this morning. The death toll was a result of lack of prompt attention and the hospital in Konduga lacked facility including drugs”.
Commending ICRC for putting up the centre for the treatment of victims of the blast, the state Governor Babagana Umara Zulum directed the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health to immediately furnish him with the requirement for expanding the centre to avoid congestion in the facilities.
Sympathizing with the victims, Prof Umara said the government would pay all their medical bills and prayed that Allah will forgive the sins of those who lost their Ives and wished those injured quick recovery.
