2019: Lamido, Ikpeazu, Bello return nomination forms

OBIORA IFOH, Abuja

Former Governor of Jigawa State, Dr. Sule Lamido, on Thursday said that he remains the only candidate that symbolizes ‘heritage’ which Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) represents, adding that he is an aspirant that represents loyalty and with capacity to win the hearts of ‘talakawas’.

Lamido made the disclosure while submitting his Presidential Nomination form at the National headquarters of the PDP at the Wadata house, Abuja.

Explaining the extent of work done by the Lamido Campaign train, the Director General of Sule Lamido Campaign Organisation, Bar. Musa Elayo, reported that Lamido was a founding member of the party, detained prior to the formation of the party and has continued to play an active role in the party.

He further explained that Lamido being an active politician that started politics in 1978, stands very tall, adding that if given the Presidential ticket of the party, the talakawa will have something on their table, rule of law will be restored and the country will be transformed.

While submitting his form, Lamido said, “PDP is a family, this place is home. The PDP carries a burden of history and whatever we do at the convention, Nigerian know what they want. PDP captured in the most succinct way, has Nigeria’s voting history.”Throwing more light on the values he possess to fly the country’s ticket, he said, “People think that I am arrogant or proud but I am original. I am not an aspirant, I am the aspirant and by the grace of the God I will be the President”.

Meanwhile, Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikoeazu has described Aba as the headquarter of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in the country following high volume of investment from state government in the sector.

Ikpeazu made the assertion on Thursday in Abuja when he submitted his Governorship Nomination forms at the Peoples Democratic Party’s National headquarters in Abuja.The governor who is seeking a second term and the sole aspirant from the state said that his administration has invested heavily in the micro sector of the economy, adding that his administration has succeeded in placing the state on the path of development.

He said, “For the past three years in Abia State we have succeeded in placing Abia on a path of irreversible, sustainable development running on our five pillars of development which include: trade and commerce, agriculture, oil and gas and promotion of small and medium enterprises.

“Today, even our worst enemies acknowledge that Abia is the SME capital of Nigeria, courtesy of the benevolence of God almighty.”Our promotion of Made In Aba has gone beyond the chores of Nigeria, Africa indeed and I am happy and pleased to say that our innovations in agriculture have also seen new vistas and massive infrastructural development that has opened up our market, opened up our major cities and ensured that trade and commerce begin to flourish once again” he stated.

Dr. Mohammed Sani Bello, Governorship aspirant from Kaduna state also returned his Nomination form.Bello who was a banker, a former lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University with PhD in Banking and Finance said that he has all it take the mantle of leadership of the state from Governor Ahmed El’rufai.”We are currently witnessing maladministration in Kaduna state and the people are asking for a change. I believe I have what it takes , the experience, the competence to meet their aspirations.

“The party is very strong. We used to have one Senator, now, we have two and Kaduna is the only state in the North-West that has two senators.”The part secretariat was a beehive of activities as several aspirants returned their nomination forms.According to the party, the submission of State and National Assembly nomination forms ends today.
