The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa on Tuesday urged the people of South West of Nigeria “to rally round” a national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying he (Tinubu) is a gift for Yoruba nation that needs their support.

Obasa who made the call during while his colleagues took turns to eulogize the former Governor of the State between 1999 to 2007, was making reference to Tinubu’s last week colloquium.

The colloquium is organised annually as part of events to mark the birthday of a Bola Tinubu, and this year’s event, which was held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, had the theme, “Investing in people.”

Tinubu said during the event that Nigerians should be patient with the president and cooperate with his government to effect the change it promised. He made this comment on Thursday, March 29, at the Expo Centre of the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

At the event, attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, governors, ministers, members of the National Assembly, and other dignitaries, the celebrant gave some incisive remarks on the state of the nation and the intention of the presidency to move Nigeria forward.

Speaking at plenary, Obasa said, “I want to appeal to the people of South West States to rally round Asiwaju. We should all come together to rally round him. When we decide to pull down the Arabs (tree), no Iroko (tree) will replace Araba. We have been blessed by Almighty Allah with this man. It’s not easy to have this kind, we have been privileged, so we should support him politically.”

For a better society.
