.As Obasa assures Assembly staff of trainings to enhance performance

Members of the Lagos East Senatorial District caucus in the House of Representatives have pledged their support to Hon. Sikiru Osinowo in his desire to represent the senatorial district in the Upper Legislative Chamber next year.

Hon. Osinowo who is currently representing Kosofe I constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly is believed to be a staunch loyalist of the National Leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Daily Champion learnt that the lawmakers, representing the five federal constituencies of the senatorial district met with Osinowo popularly called Pepperito, on Monday, 3 September, 2018 in his office in Lagos.The lawmakers described Osinowo has a unifying figure in the state chapter of the APC. Accprding to them his commitment to party ideals is not in doubt.

“Hon. Osinowo is a loyal party man to the core. He is humane, humble and kind-hearted. I made bold to say that Honourable Sikiru Adebayo Osinowo, the one we all call Pepperito is a symbol of what APC stands for. He is most qualified to represent us in the Upper Legislative Chamber of the National Assembly,” Hon Wale Raji, member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said.

His comments were supported by another member of the Green Chamber, Hon. Wole Diya of Somolu Federal Constituency who said, “Honourable Osinowo is a man of honour, a man you can repose your total trust in. He is highly qualified to represent Lagos East Senatorial District in the Senate”.

The other Reps members in the team that met with Honourable Osinowo were: Honourable Babajimi Benson, Ikorodu Federal Constituency; Honourable Rotimi Agunsoye, Kosofe Federal Constituency and Honourable Ayeola Abayomi, Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency.

In his response, Osinowo thanked the lawmakers for the honour and confidence bestowed on him.He stated that the decision for him to contest was not a unilateral one. “It was the unanimous decision of the APC leaders in the Lagos East Senatorial District and I see it as a call to serve my people in a higher legislative capacity.”

He assured the lawmakers that if elected he would not relent in ensuring that programmes, projects and measures that would enhance the development and growth of the Lagos East Senatorial District in particular and Lagos State in general are put in place by the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has expressed his commitment to continue to train the Assembly staff to enhance their performance.The management of the Lagos State House of Assembly recently organized a capacity building workshop for staff with the theme “Effective Financial Human Resource and Information Management” in order to improve their performance and enhance better productivity.

The training was held at Orchid Hotel, Lekki, Lagos State recently.Director, Public Affairs of Lagos State House of Assembly, Ms. Bose Lambo who represented the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa during the Workshop said the training is a confirmation and indeed an eloquent testimony to the commitment of leadership of the House in the intellectual development of staff which by extension would assist the Lawmakers in quality service delivery.

Obasa thereby urged participant to take full advantage of the workshop to further develop them and sharpen their skills.The training which was organized by Hybitel in partnership with African Parliamentary Resources Center enlightened participant in courses ranging from Contemporary Issues in Leadership and Management in Legislature, Effective People Management Skills for Optimum Performance, an Overview of Procurement Process and Enabling Laws Guidelines and Policy in Lagos State, Principle of Financial Management, Reporting and Accountability, Challenges and options and Work Plan Checklist.

Various techniques was used by the facilitators on the above topics and a participatory session was also organized where staffers were grouped to analyze and solve issues they are having in their different units and departments.

The staffers showed delight and gratitude to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa for granting them the privilege to partake in the Workshop.
