2019 elections: Elegushi preaches peace, credible polls

As the nation gears towards the 2019 General Elections, Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, has appealed to political parties, security agencies and other stakeholders in the election to ensure that electorate in Lagos and other states of the country are allowed to carry out their civic responsibility in a peaceful atmosphere, devoid of any form of intimidation or harassment.

In a statement in Lagos by the Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the Elegushi, Tope Oyefeso, he quoted the Monarch as saying electioneering process is the most important part of democratic governance, as it vests the power to choose leaders on the electorate, therefore, the wish of the people must be allowed to prevail at this election.

The monarch equally enjoined the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to bring to bear, all the years of preparation for the election and ensure the election is credible, free, fair and acceptable by all.

Oba Elegushi wished all Lagosians and Nigerians a peaceful process and prayed that the best candidates that will bring more development to the country will emerge.
