2019 elections: 198,000 PVCS still uncollected in Borno – INEC

Few hours to the 2019 Presidential election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Borno State has said over 198.000 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) remained uncollected in the state.

The INEC Resident Electoral commission (REC). Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, who disclosed this at a Pre- elections briefing held at INEC headquarters, Maiduguri on Friday, said: “160, 863. 000 out of 537.532 PVCS registered in 2017 and 2010. 38.241.000 out of 1 667.097 PVCs remain uncollected.

Ibrahim,said ” in Borno State, eight IIDPs voting centers have been identified which accommodate 409.000 registered voters. Adadam people vote in MOGOLIS, Maiduguri. Guzamala,in Monguno, Kala Balgein Gamboru, Ngala In Arabic Village Ngala. Kukawa in Teachers Village Maiduguri, Marte in Monguno and Mobar, Central Primary School Damasak”

” We have distributed 98 percent of non sensitive , while the sensitive materials, as i speak to you is ongoing. . We had meetings with the military, we are going have adequate security escorts.,” he added.

The REC sad “over 11,000 policemen and officers will be deployed to secure 3,933 polling units across the state , electoral staff, logistic materials as well as buildings and premises, transportation of men and materials, using motor vehicle and motorcycles have been identified and assign to various local governments areas.”

He said 2,315956 registered voters would participate in the 2019 general elections and 5,071 Smart Readers Card are to be used for accreditation of voters have been enhanced, configured and delivered to all polling units in the state .

He said 41 political parties have presented 435 candidates for various posts of Governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly, and have all been cleared by their respective parties.

The REC urged all voters to come out en masse, as the voting will commence by 8am and close by 2pm.He said all those in the queue at the time of closure would be aloud to vote, adding that both accreditation and voting will going on simultaneously.
