2019: Anambra lawmaker forged certificate, woman aspirant, others allege

Not true –Hon. Okoye

PHIL OKOSE, Onitsha

An aspirant to the Anambra State House of Assembly, in Anaocha 1 constituency, Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi, and President and Secretary of Concerned citizens of the area, Okpala A. O. and Comrade Emma Onugbolu, respectively, on Tuesday accused the member representing the constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Charles Azubuike Okoye, of certificate forgery.

The lawmaker, however, denied the allegation and said that they accused him because he defeated them at the primaries, he advised them to go to court if they feel aggrieved.

Fielding questions from newsmen in Onitsha, the woman aspirant explained that during the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, primaries held in Anaocha1 constituency, “we were five aspirants but two were forced by Hon Charles Azubuike Okoye to step down and later another, Azubuike Imoka, walked out because the election was being manipulated by the lawmaker and on the process, there was confusion and I walked out also and the election was discontinued.

I plead that there has to be a rerun of the primaries. Before the aborted primaries, I petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, APGA and others that the incumbent lawmaker who is recontesting has forged certificate.

He did not pass the common entrance Examination on completion of his primary school. He brought the common entrance certificate of one Chukwudum Atuliama, in 1976 to enter Agulu Boys’ Secondary School.

On completion of his secondary education at Agulu, he changed the name, Chukwudum Atuliama, to Mr. Charles Azubuike Okoye, to cover up his fraudulent entrance into Boys’ secondary school Agulu, in the year 1980/1981 session”She and the concerned citizens urged the APGA leadership and the law enforcement agencies to urgently investigate the said accusation of certificate forgery by the law maker.

In a swift reaction when contacted, Hon. Okoye said he would not join issue with Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi who he defeated at the APGA primaries.“I scored 64 votes against her four votes and the third person that had three votes. You can verify from the security agencies, INEC and delegates who were there. She knows what to do if she feels aggrieved, let her go to court instead of going up and down blackmailing my name.

“I have clean records of all I do, I was the former President General of Agulu community.“In the statutory delegate election before the primary, I got 28 votes and she scored about three or four votes I was the person that sacked my predecessor in the House of Assembly, Hon Ebele Ejiofor,” also on the Concerned Citizens of Anaocha he hinted that, it is non existence, there is nothing like that in the area. These are People Democratic party, PDP, who came to APGA to destroy APGA in Agulu and Anaocha but they cannot.

“That was why Gozie Nwankwo urged me to come and protect APGA in the Area and that is what I am doing”, he further explained.
