2015: APGA approves electoral guidelines

NATIONAL leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) yesterday approved the guidelines for the selection of candidates for the 2015 general election.   This was at it also approved that the governor of Anambra State, Dr. Wllie Obiano takes over as the national leader and Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party from Mr. Peter Obi who decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).    According to Chief Victor Umeh, the party took the decision pursuant to the mandate given on January 18, 2014 by the National Executive Committee (NEC) to the National Working Committee to fill all existing vacancies.    The NEC also appointed Bar. Alexander Amujiogu as the acting deputy national secretary of the party.  Umeh said, “Having regard to the resignation of Chief Peter Obi as the Leader and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of APGA and his subsequent defection to the PDP and the vacancy created thereof in the office of the leader and Chairman of the Board of trustees! The National Executive Committee unanimously appointed his excellency Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, the Governor of Anambra State, as the Leader and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Party”.  The party equally approved that the purchase and return of the expression interest forms and nomination begins on October 27 and ends on the 4th of November.  The fee for its governorship form was pegged at N12 million with the expression of interest form going for N2million. Female aspirants were also approved to pay only 50 per cent of the prescribed fees.
