A popular pharmaceutical company in the ancient town of Ile-Ife, Osun State has been reportedly torched by substance believed to be explosive.
Ebenco Pharmacy located at number 101b Moore area of the town was brought down to debris with one life reportedly lost.Eye witnesses’ account said that the explosion occurred around 10.30pm on Saturday night shortly before the close of work.It was gathered that goods worth several million of Naira were affected by the explosion as the building went down completely.
It was gathered that the explosive was planted into the building and subsequently detonated around the closing hour.As at the time of filing this report, one person was said to have lost his life while several others sustained injuries and were rushed to Obafemi Awokojo University Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Policemen have condoned off the area and were seen taking sample and conducting investigation into the matter.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Folasade Odoro (DSP) said the cause of the incident was still unknown.
She however said that no life was lost to the incident.But when cornered at the 79 birthday thanksgiving service of Dr. John Agboola Odeyemi, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi told journalists that the incident was not explosive aimed for destruction.
Oba Adeyeye declared that the family members were fighting over the property saying the person that built the House is no more and the children are fighting on sharing of the property.According to him, “it is family issue and members of the same family are fighting in what could be describe as vanity.
